1. Is anyone else getting routed to chinese language when they visit this URL? because i am: docs.joinmastodon.org/methods/ (i end up at the URL docs.joinmastodon.org/zh-cn/me - note the "zh-cn" in the path.
i doublechecked my browser locale, VPN, etc. etc. and there's nothing configured for mainland chinese locale, but this happened even after clearing cache data for joinmastodon.org

The Services

Mastodon

Our OG service is Mastodon! We run glitch-soc, which gives you longer posts, markdown formating, and plenty of other fun stuff!

PeerTube

The second (and fastest growing!) service we offer is PeerTube. Our PeerTube allows import from your YouTube channel and 50GB of free video hosting!

WriteFreely

We've recently added WriteFreely to our services! It isn't a perfect service, but it's the best option of those available and we think it's a great addition, and we hope the long-form games writing community will grow with our contribution to it.

The Rules

We wish to run a friendly, kind and inclusive server, and do not have any tolerance for discrimination or bigotry of any kind, including but not limited to racism, ableism, homophobia and transphobia. It can be hard enough for people to be their true selves offline, let's not make it harder online too.

We also have no tolerance for the promotion or nazi, alt-right and ultra-conservative ideologies.

In the pursuit of accessibility, we ask users to add alt-text to their images where they're apply to for the advantage of those using screen readers to interact with us. However, we also do not tolerate abuse toward users who might forget to do so or aren't used to doing it yet.

Legal Status

All of our infrastructure and user data is held in Australia.

One of my friends in real life joined mastodon yesterday! 🥳

Unfortunately, they chose an instance that this one blocks or isn't federated with (mastodon.social).

I can see them from my other accounts, but not from this one.

Maybe I can entice them over to beige once they get their bearings.

Are you new to the Fediverse or just after a new Mastodon intance? Why not give masto.fediverse.games a go?

We're a fairly new instance and have our books open to take on new members!

The Basics

We're a gaming-oriented server running the glitch-soc variant of Mastodon, so you get the Mastodon+ experience - everything you love about Mastodon but with lots of QoL tweaks, such as longer posts (up to 2048 characters!), rich text formatting brought to you by markdown, as well as lots of tweaks to make your experience in the fediverse a little nicer.

All of our infrastructure and user data is held in Australia. We initially did hold some backup data in the USA for cost reasons, however in the wake of the US election result, and with the extreme risk those in vulnerable groups face, we made the decision to migrate this data back to Australia.
