So, everyone tells me #Homeassistant is clever and nice and nerdy, something all #Homelabs should have. But I've struggled to see how I can use it myself.
But now I have a few ideas, I want to start looking into stuff that I can connect to a Home Assistant install. But where to start?
Right now I'm thinking of smart electric plugs that I can manage the state of and see power usage over time, most likely a couple of #MotionSensors

Looking for suggestions on 8TB+ hard drives that will be used in a busy NAS.
NAS specs:
The first two drives will be mirrored for OS. That leaves six bays for data.
Budget: $2400 USD for ten drives. Not looking for top-of-the-line server drives, but rather best-bang-for-the-buck.
@wollman I used to expect to replace our home wireless access points every 2-3 years, however with my current one I’m hopeful that putting it behind a decent ups and surge protector will hopefully minimize power irregularities which I speculate cause early demise. Also keeping it well ventilated and not buying the lowest price recommended wap and springing for the upgrade pick seems to get us better outcomes. #homelabs
