This also points to the need to pay a HUMAN Editor instead of relying on only #AI or grammar-checker software to "edit" the book. Human eyes would have caught this. Chatbots and #Grammarly are NOT a full replacement for a paid #Editor . "Self-editing" does NOT replace a human Editor.
Humans will catch other things that AI tends to miss, like:
* A character's eye or clothing color changing mid-paragraph.
* Info dumps (NEVER use them).
* Overuse of the same word.
* Too much tell, not enough show.
* Homonymns and other words that spell-checkers won't catch.
* Inconsistent punctuation style.
* Paragraphs that REALLY need to be broken up.
* The most problematic issues with "self-editing" are the sentences where YOU know what you meant, but the reader will be confused.
A good #editor does far more than spellcheck. They are well worth their cost. A quality book uses human Editors.
