Open Terms Archive<p>Did you rely on the “<a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DoNotTrack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DoNotTrack</span></a>” setting on your phone? Since July 18th, Instagram removed the option for users to opt out of online personalised ads through their mobile device settings. Now, you can only do so through the “Digital Advertising Alliance” and not anymore directly from your phone. <br><a href="https://opentermsarchive.org/en/memos/instagram-removes-tracking-optout-in-mobile-device-options/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">opentermsarchive.org/en/memos/</span><span class="invisible">instagram-removes-tracking-optout-in-mobile-device-options/</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TermsSpotting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TermsSpotting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/privacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>privacy</span></a></p>

It still supports <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ManifestV2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ManifestV2</span></a>, but also comes with a built-in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/AdBlocker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AdBlocker</span></a>, and third party cookie blocking. Furthermore it still supports <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DoNotTrack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DoNotTrack</span></a> which Firefox is phasing out, so technically it's *more* private, and also MUCH faster!</p>
Voxel :sparkles_light:<p>Now we know why Mozilla removed the <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/DoNotTrack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DoNotTrack</span></a> feature from <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a>. @karlauerbach nodds in agreement

It's high time @mozilla / @mozillaofficial / #Mozilla just hands over #Firefox to @torproject / #TorProject so they can make #TorBrowser the new #upstream for #Gecko.

And the only "technically necessary" are #login - #cookies (and like #session-cookies)!
