This brought to you by learning today that I'll have four weeks to potentially find and see a new care team, get them to issue a new script to a new pharmacy benefit provider, get pre-approval for Skyrizi from said pharmacy provider, and get the med delivered by a new specialty pharmacy.

But I can't even find out yet if my doctors are in network with the new plan or if the benefits will even consider covering Skyrizi. So that's exciting.

Wow!
Linking a particular bacteria of the gut microbiome in a chain that could potentially be a source of major depression. Follow up research could also show how environmental contaminants combined with the metabolism of the gut microbiome could be linked to autoimmune and other conditions.

Science is amazing!
Can't wait to see where this drives other future research and, eventually, treatments.

@RickiTarr
I’ve had #crohns all my life (mis-diagnosed until age 19). Worst was in my 20s. Pain, diarrhea, fatigue, hospitals, several surgeries, depression, all severe. It’s been “controlled” since age 30. Even at the worst I resisted the idea of “disabled”, for no good reason really. It’s just what I learned to do. I was never “that bad”, even tho in retrospect, yes, I was. Managed to survive to my 70s so far. Just never wanted to make a big deal about it. I guess we just do the best we can.🤷🏽

While I love #Ontario's healthcare system & have been well cared for through a chronic illness & 3 cesarean births with very little out of pocket... it sure can be infantilizing sometimes. Prescription drugs are rightfully given in limited amounts, but refills are gated behind forcing you to go back to your specialist.

Even this anti-inflammatory I've taken for over a decade (I have #Crohns Disease) is being kept from me. Gee thanks for the 4 day supply. 😡

Given up on the NHS for diagnosis.

Their immune system tests are terrible and they refuse access to the pet scanners. This is the #only# way to diagnose many.

It's truly impossible.

So I travel to Turkey to buy more steroids and immuno suppressants myself.

I've wasted 2.5yrs of health waiting for a decent doctor.

It's a tyranny of ignorance that gatekeeps diagnosis/prevents us getting medication.
