This year CLP is electing three positions: (1) Secretary, (2) Student and Early Career Representative, and (3) International Liaison. All nominations need to be submitted to Aram Sinnreich via email (aram@american.edu) before 1300 on Friday August 8 (ICA HQ time, Eastern Time US). Nominations should be a single email with the nominee's name, contact email (the same one used in your ICA profile), institutional affiliation (if applicable), and a personal statement. Candidate statements are limited to one paragraph with 2000 characters (approximately 300 words). Statements should be submitted in plain text with no special formatting. All positions will be elected by CLP membership during the ICA-wide elections held digitally later this year. Nominees must be active members of ICA & CLP, and remain so during the duration of their term, which will begin at the conclusion of #ICA26 in Cape Town for all three positions. Though attendance in Cape Town would be nice for all nominees, it is not required. **CLP Secretary** This is a two year term. Acts as recording secretary at business meetings of the DIV/IG. The Secretary prepares and distributes minutes of business meetings to members, acts as editor of the DIV/IG’s newsletter, oversees the DIV/IG website (and ensures that the ICA page for the DIV/IG links to the external site, if there is one). The secretary keeps record of decisions and activities as the keeper of the “institutional memory” of the group. The secretary actively engages with DIV/IG members via official ICA channels (The Link, email, etc.); assist the Chair in administering business meetings; and participate with the Chair in evaluating the quality of DIV/IG programs. **CLP Student and Early Career Representative (SECAC)** This is a two-year term. To be eligible, you must be within five years of obtaining a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD), which includes those currently enrolled as students. The SECAC will assist the Director of the Doctoral Consortium with some planning activities and work with the officers in the business of the Division. The CLP SECAC will help the officers to enhance the graduate student experience within CLP and will be a contact person for graduate students within the Division to come to with issues, concerns, or ideas. **CLP International Liaison** This is a two-year term. The International Liaison should be a member of the CLP Division and will be a liaison between the CLP Division and the ICA Board to help further internationalize the Association as well as the CLP division. The CLP International liaison will also serve on the awards committee.

The year is 1927. The Federal Radio Commission (forerunner to the FCC) has just been formed and America's airwaves are still a morass of largely unregulated broadcasters. The Commission must decide which ones are providing quality content.

Commissioner Henry Adams Bellows, already exasperated, gives an early account of the thankless nature of content moderation:

Reposting my #introduction, since I'm seeing a lot of fresh faces recently. I'm an associate professor at UMass Amherst, where I teach about #journalism and #MediaIndustries. My research focuses on media distribution and, occasionally, dysfunction in the adtech industry.

I also co-edit a book series on the civic impacts of media distribution for The MIT Press. Feel free to hit me up if you're working on a relevant project!
