Well, at least we still have that other special passover coke. 🕺 :lion_of_judah: 🕺

"A uniquely #American #Passover tradition could become a thing of the past, after President Donald #Trump announced that he had successfully pressed #CocaCola to change the formulation of its signature drink in the #UnitedStates.

“I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in #Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so,” Trump wrote on #TruthSocial, his social media platform, on Wednesday. “I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them — You’ll see. It’s just better!”

Such a change would obviate Coca-Cola’s special runs for Passover — and the fervent searches that some kosher-keeping Jews undertake to secure the scarce “#yellowcap” bottles of Coke that result."

I can't find any evidence on the Web that either of #HFCS and #CaneSugar is worse for teeth than the other. I can find plenty of evidence that free sugars, in the amounts typically consumed in the West, are terrible for our health. If Maga cared about Americans' health, they'd tell people to lay off the sugary drinks rather than fiddling with recipes.

I have strong feelings about this, having recently lost a friend to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. She couldn't control her intake of sugary foods, and it killed her, leaving a widower and two daughters just entering their twenties. She was an intelligent woman; she knew she should stop. But this rubbish is engineered to be addictive, and the addiction cost her her life.

Coca-Cola has a new AI-powered ad that proudly features a quote from a J.G. Ballard book — except he didn't write the words, and it's not his book. @404mediaco explains what happened — and the irony of using Ballard's words in a commercial built with technology. "The ultimate role of 'Crash' is cautionary, a warning against that brutal, erotic and overlit realm that beckons more and more persuasively to us from the margins of the technological landscape,” Ballard wrote in his 1995 introduction to his most famous work.
