“As a reward for promising to be more racist, Verizon recently saw its $20 billion merger with Frontier approved by the Trump FCC. Comcast is rumored to be eyeing a merger with T-Mobile.
[🤢]
And cable giant Charter is pushing for a new $34.5 billion merger with Cox Communications. As usual, the two companies are promising that more industry mergers will somehow make the sector more competitive”.

The New York Times · Cable Giants Charter and Cox to Merge in $34.5 Billion DealBy Michael J. de la Merced

“Using the [notwithstanding] clause to pre-empt judicial oversight is constitutionally allowed – and probably popular in some circles – but can be a step towards abuse of power. Put simply, anyone who is okay with someone else’s rights being infringed arbitrarily has to recognize that their own are also at risk.

Lmaooo: This #charter #school superintendent makes $870k. He leads a district with 1,000 students

"We believe the benefits that Dr. Cavazos brings to Valere through his vast experience and knowledge justify the compensation that the Board has and continues to award him,” the board’s statement read.

...they did not believe the district had run afoul of any #Texas reporting requirements because no one from the state had told them that they had." #schoolVouchers #grift

The Texas Tribune · This charter school superintendent makes $870,000. He leads a district with 1,000 students. On paper, Salvador Cavazos earns less than $300,000 to run Valere Public Schools, a small Texas charter network. But taxpayers likely aren’t aware that his total pay makes him one of the country’s highest-earning superintendents.

New Charter for the W3C SocialCG

I want to draw attention to an administrative process at the W3C Social Web Community Group (SocialCG), the standards group that manages ActivityPub and Activity Streams 2.0 and a number of other open social networking standards. The group is considering a new charter to define how decisions are made and how the members work together. This might seem like a minor process, but it's actually part of a bigger deal for the Fediverse. To see why, you need to understand the structure of the […]

It is expected that the encampment will cease in its current location as of today. I (speaking personally) hope very much that this is a peaceful and respectful day, as it has been for the entirety of the protest.

I hope VIU resists its own threat to call in the RCMP. And I hope this is not the end of peaceful protests on campus, for any issue.

But I fear the precedent and message sent at VIU (and many other institutions in Canada) is clear. Universities are not safe spaces for protest. The expectation that they are places for open and vigorous debate has been shattered.

At their core, Canadian Universities are just another colonial institution based around colonial confrontation and limiting of rights of people, particularly Indigenous and minorities.

The notion that VIU or any Canadian Institution is changing and acknowledging past wrongs is a whole bunch of performative nonsense. Decolonization? Ha!

It’s just more of the same. Assimilation. Like Israel razing Gaza to the ground so it can swallow it whole and destroy the Palestinian people, the assertion in Court of Canadian Universities private property rights over the Charter rights of its community and the un-ceded Territories of host First Nations, make them complicit and actively participating in Canada's Genocide.

>> Are you done being ignorant?

Are you?

>> Now that you know the truth, you can condemn Israel for its horrible behavior

Have you condemned #Hamas?

Your opinions are not truths. I don't have to respond to all your opinions.

Also neither #Amnesty, nor the Commission are #UN, which you misattributed to.

Even the report you cite did not absolve Hamas of any #WarCrimes.

Only a #HamasSimp would know the "truth" about its #Charter and ask #Israel to apologize 🙄

Instead of flying in private #jets, the rich should have to #charter commercial jets. Their charter gets them and their #entourage the #1stclass cabin. They let an airline broker the economy class, and whatever seats get filled at whatever price less the brokerage fee offsets their charter cost.
And all the business/extended legroom seats are donated free to pet flights, vets/emergency workers, special needs ppl, nonprofits and anyone marginalized or who can't otherwise afford.
