People (anime nerds) have talked about how Attack on Titan is the best thing since tummy rubs and sliced bread had a baby born without original sin.

So, I bought the series and started watching.

The constant screaming, the act without thought, the baked-in extreme-right politics, the centuries-long secrets, and the poor address of mental health, all this leads me to believe this anime is trying to manufacture consent. For what? I can guess but would have little confidence in specifics.

It became unbearable to watch halfway through Season 2. I'll continue just to make sure but many guesses have been made.

I've also borrowed some manga from a friend and I'm kind of reading each episode after watching the show just to see if things are different.

It's not.

I've been watching more #Anime as the years go by, but I still have some huge holes in my viewing which need filling.

I just filled one with #AttackOnTitan and I've got to say it blew me away. Extremely bleak, violent, but a far better written than most anime. It goes places with its themes of the futility of war and what happens when you hold onto old grudges.

Not sure what to watch next, maybe Steins;Gate?

Any other suggestions?

@ajroach42 if you like the comedic tone of old #DragonBall I'm pretty sure you'd like #OnePunchMan. If you prefer the fighting aspect then #DemonSlayer might be good for you. If you are looking for a more adult story and like samurais I'd say #Vagabond, it's not finished yet but there are more than 300 chapters to date. Lastly, and I haven't read this one tho the anime was so gooood, #AttackOnTitan, a political thriller/action/sci-fi(ish) mind-blowing story.

Hi all, I've just migrated from @irfan@kitsunes.club to this account on sakurajima.social. I'll also be attempting to migrate my main account @irfan@firefish.social to this one in the coming days, but I'm expecting nothing on that front since it's failed so far (update: it seems to have migrated, but the migration of followers seems to not have taken place).

I'm a 26 year old (in Nov 2024) (gfdi) programmer obsessed with languages such as #Python and #Shell, frameworks like #Django, and #CloudNative shenanigans like #Docker, #Kubernetes, and #Helm. I'm also obsessed with #FOSS and #Linux, and promoting them to be more viable each day for the masses so everyone could have not just free but secure access to daily computing.

Entertainment wise, I'm into both English but mostly Japanese content - including #anime. I also often play western and Japanese #games on #Nintendo and #Steam. My primary #gaming devices are my #SteamDeck, my #ArchLinux/#EndeavourOS based #PC, and my old and dusty #NintendoSwitch. My fav animes include #Gintama (as per my pfp), #NatsumeYuujinchou, and #AttackOnTitan. My fav games include #NierAutomata, #StardewValley, and #EldenRing. My fav genres include anything that evokes strong emotions and grabs my full attention like #horror, #thriller, and #mystery.

I'll be using this account to mostly document my passions through mini reviews or rants, even make some friends along the way.
