(Just in time for #APRSThursday)
(Just in time for #APRSThursday)
@AF0AJ some interesting ham-related python I was looking at the other day https://github.com/jangelor/ioreth/tree/master/ioreth used by #APRSThursday
@aprsfi Speaking of requests, how about the ability to delete messages on the iPad/iOS app? Unless I've missed a delete button somehow, because participating in #aprsthursday has left me with a LOT of messages to scroll through to reach the latest ones.
@AE4WX Thanks for the reminder. Last week I totally spaced on #APRSThursday!
Finally our last #HamTalk question for the night, but feel free to stick around to chat with others and ask your own questions! Also don’t forget to check into the #APRSThursday net running until 23:59 UTC Thursday.
Q5. What’s a skill you would like to learn that would enhance your experience with #HamRadio / #AmateurRadio?
While this is this week’s final #HamTalk question from me, feel free to stick around, answer at your leisure, ask your own questions, and have side conversations! Also remember to participate in the #APRSThursday net running until 23:59 Thursday.
Q5. What’s an aspect of #HamRadio / #AmateurRadio you talk about to get unlicensed and recently licensed people excited about the hobby?
Keeping on the #weather theme (I am a meteorologist after all) for this next question:
#HamTalk Q4. Have you ever reported weather via #HamRadio / #AmateurRadio? This could be something like having a station on #APRS, participating in a net, storm chasing, etc.
Also on the topic of APRS, the #APRSThursday net is going until 23:59 UTC Thursday so don’t forget to check in.
Well I’m out of space related #HamRadio / #AmateurRadio questions. This will be the last one for today but remember to check in to the #APRSThursday net (details linked below) which runs until 23:59 UTC / 16:59 PDT Thursday.
#HamTalk Q6. Have you made contact with someone you might consider to be famous on ham radio? This can be a well known person, someone who is ham radio famous, a UN agency, or whatever catches your fancy.

@ingalls Hey, saw you checked in to #aprsthursday. I tried to say hi but the replies couldn't be delivered... Next time!
@ingalls Again I will miss the live chat due to a regularly-scheduled conflict, but I look forward to reading through the activity... The start also coincides precisely with the start of #aprsthursday so maybe you want to give that a mention?
Working on my #aprsthursday WAS, 30 states down, 20 to go. Making zero progress so far today. :) It helps that the isn't any kind of serious award lol.
This week’s #APRSThursday net brought 426 check-ins including me in Portland.
There were 426 check-ins on yesterday's #APRSThursday net, which is the most since I started participating.
Checked into the #APRSThursday net from a park near my grandparents house this week. My checkin made it to the internet via a repeater in Walla Walla - about 80 km away from me in Kennewick using 4 watts on my handheld.
Last call for question ideas for my inaugural #HamTalk, a Fediverse discussion about #HamRadio / #AmateurRadio based on #BikeNite to bring together the ham radio community on Mastodon!
First question will roll out at 17:00 PDT Wednesday / 00:00 UTC Thursday to coincide with the #APRSThursday net.
I am going to host a #HamRadio discussion similar to #BikeNite where I will post questions over the course of an hour to drive engagement and conversation about the hobby in the Fediverse. I think I’m going to call it #HamTalk.
I plan to start posting questions at 17:00 PDT Wed July 26 (00:00 UTC July 27) to coincide with the start of the #APRSThursday net. If it turns out to be popular, I may do it weekly.
If you have ideas of questions to include, please reply with them!
Checked into the #APRSThursday net for the first time after being told about it by @croyle .
@ingalls @xssfox @kf7azy Good timing too, as tomorrow (well technically today as of an hour ago) it's also #APRSThursday so do a check-in if you're interested!
@AE4WX I'm curious, what's the purpose of the FEDIHAM group? I already use that server for my #APRSThursday check-ins, so I already have that server in my radio and on my phone too.
