>> if #Harris felt that her position as VP prevented her from criticizing her boss’s role in #genocide then she needed to resign.

No, you need to stop spreading disinfo. #KamalaHarris supported a #TwoStateSolution that #Trump will never support, even though many european nations already do, and #France is on the cusp of doing so.

Protesters who spoke for #Palestinians #inTheirName have hurt the #Palestinian cause more than anybody by reelecting Trump

>> Did Macron suddenly realise hedging his political career on the US-Israel line is political suicide?

No. #TwoStateSolution is the ONLY viable solution now as it was in the 1947 #UN proposal when #Arabs & #Palestinians rejected it in favor of war, and continued to reject it for decades while chanting #FromTheRiverToTheSea.

Neither #Palestine nor #Israel should get the whole thing, but due to people like Rashida #Tlaib, #Gaza might suffer

"Spain, Ireland, Norway joint announcement" [ ± 1min]

"May 24, 2024
The Spanish, Irish and Norwegian governments announced Wednesday that they would recognize a Palestinian state, saying there would be no peace in the Middle East without it. Israel denounced the move as giving aid to its enemy, Hamas. The coordinated announcements are purely symbolic — but not without some power.
The leaders of the three countries said they hoped their recognition would press Israel, the Palestinians and the international community toward a two-state solution to the conflict."

They neglected #Gaza and the #TwoStateSolution for 75 years.

Now, they have a plan?
#genocide
"The plan stirred rare unity among Arab states which roundly rejected the idea, but they could still disagree over **who will govern the enclave** and who will pay for #reconstruction.
Umer Karim, an expert on Saudi foreign policy, told AFP the summit would be the “most consequential” in decades in relation to the wider #Arab world and the #Palestinian issue."

>> Rich people get richer off #genocide.

Sorry for multiple posts — 500 char limit 🙂

Partition of #BritishIndia into #India & #Pakistan was not about rich getting richer, nor was it about #genocide.

A #TwoStateSolution was pragmatic for an intractable problem — inability of people of different religions to coexist.

#Israel & #Palestine have similar problems, and if the latter had not recklessly rejected the UN proposal, it would arguably be in a better situation.

>> @QasimRashid's spin on what happened in 1947.

To clarify, #India & #Pakistan agreed to a #UN-proposed #TwoStateSolution. People voluntarily moved across two borders, West & East (now #Bangladesh), according to their preference. Any #Hindu who wanted to stay in Pakistan did so, and any #Muslim who wanted to stay in India, did likewise.

Not everybody was happy, and there was a bloody #civilWar. Many died. Many lost everything, but it was not a #genocide — which is the spin here.

>> I think we can both agree that what #India has now is much better than the #British #Raj. The separation of states, good or bad in itself, was managed disastrously, though.

Sure. This gets to the crux of the matter — The difference between an #idea and its #implementation.

Idea of a #TwoStateSolution was better for #India - #Pakistan. It was better for #Israel - #Palestine too — had the latter not recklessly rejected it in 1947 in pursuit of #PanArabism #Arabism.

#WSJ is owned by the #Murdoch's family— might as well be from #Mordor, not #US.

The cases are not comparable. #India and #Pakistan agreed to a #UN-proposed #TwoStateSolution in 1947 but #Palestinians rejected similar for #BritishMandate in #Palestine the same year.

Partition of #BritishIndia was actually better for India — Just look at Pakistan now 🙂

@jopy

Under their leadership, the #middleeast has become a source of global #terrorism.
Arab nations are corrupt and weak from decades of neglect and infighting.

Only now, with a boot on the throat of the #middleast, do they profess their love for the #TwoStateSolution.

Don't believe the hype. Arab leaders use the notion of peace to reconstitute terrorist networks.

It looks like my dream of a two state solution in the Levant may be at an end. :(

If this annexation gives full rights to the people of the West Bank, just like the Arabs who are Israeli citizens in Israel, I could be okay with it[1], but based on the politicians involved, I'm fearful this isn't going to be the case. Thus, I'm against it.

jpost.com/israel-news/article-

[1] I don't like the idea of annexation, I think it's morally wrong, but if it really gave the Palestinians full rights as Arab Israelis have, it would be good for women and Queer West Bank Palestinian, who currently have to live in the closet.

The Jerusalem Post | JPost.com Trump: US will announce position on West Bank annexation over next four weeks"People do like the idea, but we haven't taken a position on it yet," Trump said.
