Okay, hive mind…I need a little help! We need to replace our hardwired Nest Protects (smart smoke & CO detectors) in September because Google, in their infinite wisdom , decided to discontinue this truly top notch product just months before ours turn 10 and stop working. Aaargh!

Does anyone have a hardwired smoke/CO detector — smart or otherwise — that they would recommend?

I was just woken up by a smoke alarm going off in my house very briefly, maybe three seconds / beeps. It stopped before I could pinpoint the exact smoke detector that had been triggered. Might have been on top floor?

I walked through the whole house and looked & smelled in every room, and found no sign of smoke. I also checked outside on both sides of the house, since the windows were open, and didn't notice anything weird outdoors.

What the fuck? What do I do now?
