Okay having watched some more videos about the new ROG Xbox Ally devices, I now realise it’s not a new overlay. It’s literally a cutdown version of Windows for a better gaming experience and that is much more exciting!

The reason that’s exciting is because they said this experience would be “Great for handhelds *like* the Xbox Ally and Ally X”. Suggests they’ll allow this cutdown version of Windows on other devices, and maybe even PCs in the future!

This is a marketing bullshit bingo video about the upcoming ROG Ally X. The handheld XBox. And right from the beginning, they are lying about what this thing is.

First of all, it is not a brand-new console. It's the ROG Ally with an X attached and "optimised" a little, to slap an Xbox label on it. It doesn't have the power of an Xbox Series S or X at all! It's a compromise at best. A good one? We will see ...

I mean it’s cool Xbox has announced a handheld, but it’s essentially just the ROG Ally 2 but it just has an extra Xbox button and a new overlay in Windows.

I saw the hardware leak for this last month. Maybe this IS the ROG Ally 2 though. Maybe one without Xbox branding won’t exist.
