Same with my car: I'll never drive a car made after 2016 because of all the #eCall #tracking bs that doesn't even work reliably in #EDGEland when it comes to emergencies!

  • Not to mention having driven a #Peugeot 2008 not so long ago (as rental) really fucking annoyed me as this thing just decided to randomly nag me for the gazillionth time to agree to shit terms I explicitly declined several times already whilst driving down the road, literally blocking the navigation display.

#Enshittification like that will sooner or later kill people!

  • But hey, at least it refused to pair a passengers' phone via bluetooth if I didn't pull over and turned the engine off! That'll shurely not make other drivers just keep their hands on the handset against Traffic Code...
Peugeot 2008 Infotainment system randomly demanding location data and internet access for a voice assistant randombly on the road. The only selection options are "Accept" and "Abort" (not "Decline"]… It a fullscreen popup that this blocks readability of the navigation system and thus directions...

After yesterday’s post about the original Renault Zoe, @icemanfr75 mentioned the earlier Peugeot 106 Electrique, which was produced between 1995 and 2003. But before the 106 Electrique, there was this, the Citroën AX Electrique, which was introduced in 1993. A total of 395 were made. It was replaced in 1996 by an electric version of the Saxo, a sister car of the 106 Electrique. Photographed at Techno Classica Essen in 2017.

Post-war examples of the earlier ‘French luxury’ motoring tradition that DS Automobiles is attempting to revive have been few and far between. While perhaps not quite in the same bracket as the recently featured Facel cars and the Citroën SM, the highly-regarded Peugeot 604, which gave BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar a run for their money back in the 1970s, is certainly worth a mention in this context. I saw this one at Rétromobile Paris in 2014.

Yesterday @keziacc and @BackFromTheDud both mentioned the popularity of the Peugeot 404 in Africa. No version of the 404 was better suited to the hard conditions there than the 1967 pick-up, snapped at #TechnoClassica in 2018. A ‘monoposto’ record-breaker, sophisticated cabriolets and coupés, an outstanding saloon and one of the best estate cars ever made - on top of that, a super-durable pick-up. Today, another chapter in the Peugeot 404 story with the famous estate/station wagon ‘Break’ model. While some manufacturers were happy to stick an extra bit of boxy bodywork on the back of a saloon and call it an estate, Peugeot did the job properly with an extended wheelbase, special rear suspension with two coil springs per side and extensive bodywork changes.
