As this project is in its early stages, we have to wait for the final results. But it’s interesting that again a congress is supposed to be a benchmark for developments that go beyond foreign politics. So, we stay tuned to continue the discussion on the role of #congressDiplomacy in general. (7/7)

We are back from our holiday break with more #emdiplomacy content!
Today, it’s time to introduce Alexander Gerber! He is managing director at the center of historical peace research at the university of Bonn, the place where the documents of the Westphalian #peacecongress are edited. Gerber also writes his PhD on the ceremonial and procedures of the Imperial estates at the #Westphalianpeacecongress.
Thus, it is not surprising, that for @emdiplomacy Gerber is looking at towns and cities as sphere of #earlymodern #diplomacy. (2/6)

I'm an #earlymodern historian based in Salzburg, interested in #diplomacy, #peacemaking, #religion and #gender. I'm currently writing a book on #emdiplomacy and networks of interests at the #peacecongress of #Westphalia.
I'm co-editor of the @emdiplomacy #handbook.
When I have time to spare, I'm also editing the autobiography of German historian Karl Brandi.
