Chris Alemany🇺🇦🇨🇦🇪🇸<p>it has been about 24.5 hours of the hose running. The pond is very close to being full. Only about 10 or 20 cm left before it connects to the pump bay. But even after that, it will be another few centimetres before it is completely full.</p><p>I didn't want to have to turn the pump on in the dark so I have turned the water off. I may leave it off until after our rain event, which is expected on Thursday night and Friday.</p><p>It is supposed to rain up to 20 mm ending Friday night. That might be enough to top it up.</p><p>it feels a little anti-climatic that we filled it this way and for this reason. But it is what it is and it's still really cool to see it full. It will be very informative to have the pump running. I am sure I will have to do some alterations to the edges.</p><p> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/poolpond" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>poolpond</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/oops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oops</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/fire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fire</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>diy</span></a></p>
Chris Alemany🇺🇦🇨🇦🇪🇸<p>The filter. It is filtering.<br> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/poolpond" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>poolpond</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/oops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oops</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/fire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fire</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>diy</span></a></p>
Chris Alemany🇺🇦🇨🇦🇪🇸<p>The first trickle from filter to pool pond.</p><p>The main pond is not quite 3/4 full, but I thought it was important to make sure the filter was completely full and ready to start filtering. So I have shored up the low edges of the filter, taken away the temporary stream, and now the water is starting to flow from filter to pond. In time it will connect with the pump bay. Then I can turn on the pump and start circulating for real.</p><p>😆</p><p>The reason this is happening now is not the best reason. Our view to the southeast is not encouraging.</p><p>😔 🔥<br><a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/poolpond" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>poolpond</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/oops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oops</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/fire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fire</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>diy</span></a></p>
Chris Alemany🇺🇦🇨🇦🇪🇸<p>so. Funny story.<br>Last night, I get home from DoorDashing and I started doing a bunch of stuff to prepare for the fire and put away things. I turned the water on to finish filling the filter and the pump bay. Then I was setting up the sprinkler for the house. Then I got totally sidetracked by the fire stuff.</p><p>Fast-forward to this morning, and apparently we have a pool a little bit ahead of schedule . 😂 💧 </p><p>I mean, it was part of the contingency plan in case the fire came. It needed to be full so that the liner was not a fire hazard, but yeah, not what I expected when I walked out of the backdoor this morning lol </p><p>So it turns out it takes about 12 hours to fill it half full. So 24 to fill it completely I assume.</p><p>This changes the build schedule sort of. The rock lining of the pond is obviously not done. Nor is the bottom intake and sprinkler plumbing.</p><p>Sometimes fate takes the wheel. 🤷‍♂️ 😂 </p><p>Partner is excited. 🏊 <br><a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/poolpond" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>poolpond</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/oops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oops</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/fire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fire</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.chrisalemany.ca/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>diy</span></a> #</p>

Queen of Insomnia<p>I forgot to take my anxiety med yesterday. This was a big mistake. I use a pill minder so I don't miss a dose, because missing a dose completely messes with my brain in ways that make me unable to do much. Even walking can be a challenge because it makes me super dizzy. I am sad I wasted a weekend day on this nonsense. I'm also thankful for my sis and BIL for taking care of me and my dog. Now we'll see if I can get some sleep and reset things for tomorrow. <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/medication" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>medication</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/anxiety" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>anxiety</span></a> <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/oops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oops</span></a></p>

Here’s why I remembered to stop at this patch of wild licorice that the county had attempted to mow down (and. in the process, had snagged the guardrail with the large mower behind the tractor). #oops

BBC: Warning issued after US energy drink cans accidentally filled with vodka

"US authorities are warning consumers of Celsius energy drinks to check their cans after some were accidently filled with vodka.

The US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) issued the warning for the Astro Vibe Blue Razz edition of the drink.

The mix-up came about after a packaging supplier mistakenly shipped empty Celsius cans to the vodka seltzer company High Noon, which filled them with alcohol."

I don't watch or attend a lot of conferences and talks these days, probably for the same reasons you shouldn't watch as much tv and believe it all as you used to.

But to me, at least, this is a deep and serious one worth your time in a fundamental way. If you are a programmer who actually cares about code and people who are exposed to that code.

www.youtube.com- YouTubeEnjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

zfs on linux tip: use serialno based device names *not* /dev/sd# labels that are dynamically assigned (like say due to slightly different disk spin-up rates at boot).

If you fail to do that, zfs unmount POOL, zpool export POOL, zpool import -d /dev/disk/by-id/ POOL can get you fixed up.

The UK is giving the vote to 16 and 17 year-olds. But it doesn't look good for the #Starmtroopers. For that age group, the most popular party leader is the possible leader of a party that doesn't yet exist. Worse still for Sir Kid Starver, the person who soundly outpolled him is the former leader who was smeared out of office. #oops

Davey +3
Denyer +3
Starmer +1
Badenoch -2
