Two imposing parallel ridges rise up in an otherwise flat landscape of trees, and lakes, and bogs. From whence came these topographical aberrations?
It seems the cosmos tossed a 'pebble' into a shallow Silurian sea. These granite ridges are part of the inner rim of the impact crater. This precambrian granite, typically overlain by limestone, is 100+ meters above its normal level in the area - the geologists call this "basement uplift." 1/n
