Strictly, an isometric or dimetric drawing continues at the same scale. There is no concept of things getting smaller further away, there is no horizon. That doesn’t stop me cheating and drawing sections of the map at a smaller scale to appear far away and even putting a horizon on. This works best with a nice low angle of a dimetric drawing, see my previous tips about isometric vs dimetric for more about this. #isometric #drawing #howtodraw #sketching #illustration #cartography #ttrpg

Think and thick line technique, sometimes called thin-thick line emphasis, is a way to quickly improve line drawings and make them pop, especially if they are hard to read overlapping 3d shapes. It’s all about thickening selective lines that show any edge that joins to a surface you can’t see. Lines that join two surfaces you can both see remain thin. Many artists do this instinctively, and it’s not a hard and fast rule. Have fun with it. #drawing #howtodraw #sketching #illustration

I’m experimenting with different kinds of content, as I want to keep my social media thriving, it’s important to me I remain connected to the community and it’s the main way I find commissions. What do people think about occasional tutorials? Simple one pagers like this or longer form videos? #drawing #sketchingtips #howtodraw #sketching #illustration #procreate #mapping #dndmap #dndcartography #cartography #cartographer #ttrpg

The other was that Joe Kubert got sick of my shit and went Mr Miyagi on me. He told me to get a Sears catalog. And he made me copy it.

I spent about a month copying pictures of catalog models. I slowly figured out how to apply the suggestions and concepts in #JackHamm's book.

So, having trouble with clothes? Look at Jack Hamm for the principles. And do a pencil study of every figure in a huge-ass catalog to hammer it home. #protip #howtodraw #makecomics
