The other was that Joe Kubert got sick of my shit and went Mr Miyagi on me. He told me to get a Sears catalog. And he made me copy it.

I spent about a month copying pictures of catalog models. I slowly figured out how to apply the suggestions and concepts in #JackHamm's book.

So, having trouble with clothes? Look at Jack Hamm for the principles. And do a pencil study of every figure in a huge-ass catalog to hammer it home. #protip #howtodraw #makecomics

Short #protip #explainer thread: When I was a student in art school, I had a hard time drawing the clothed figure. I didn't understand drapery, or tension & compression, or the construction of clothing. I whined at my teachers to show me how to do it, like there was a magic wand they could wave and *POOF* I'd suddenly know how.

In the end, two things helped. One was a close study of a handful of pages from #JackHamm's book Drawing the Head and Figure.
