Repaired my favorite handspun fingerless mitts.
I made them 15 years ago from a „trash batt“ I carded, throwing in everything I had lying around. Merino, white and brown alpaca, some pink mystery fiber, silk, cotton. I plied it with some leftover blue-green merino silk, and knit fingerless mitts from it.
They are so ugly
, but they are warm and cozy and have been in use every winter since I made them.
I wore them through at the thumb bind-off, or maybe moths got into them over the summer, I don’t know.
I unpicked the bind-off, tinked a round to get a long enough yarn tail, joined in two strands of different handspun, re-knit the round and bound off. As good as new
As repair yarn, I used leftovers of the original blue-green merino silk ply, and a pink-purple-ish merino.
