Today I share some birthday cards, some of the rare cards I’ve made with any sort of sentiment or theme on them.

But I put hats on these, and I think they’re fun!

goimagine.com/cheeky-chirps-il

These are all #HumanMade. I paint them all in Procreate, then print them at home, package them all up, and mail them out myself—no POD fulfillment company for me.

I made a LOT of birds, and I’ve sometimes circled back and used them in different kinds of ways. I promised myself I’d make more birds in hats, and they’re still on my list! In the meantime, if you know anyone who might like a clever bird birthday card, consider these please!

A long time ago, I was doing landscapes. I focused on waterfalls, and fell in love with the green and the water.

I used what I learned making these to do more projects, including a landscape calendar (of sorts) in 2023.

Every time I look at these, I remember the calm I experienced making them. And perhaps that’s part of why I’m so happy amongst the trees here behind the #RedwoodCurtain.

Going back to my roots, and sharing the very first pack of greeting cards I ever made:

goimagine.com/song-birds-greet

These were the first birds I felt deserved their own boxed set. I’m happy to say they’ve found their way into many happy homes in the last couple years. I still look back at these pieces with a kind of shock they came out of my hands.

I used Procreate to make these, and while these were made far before the advent of artificially generated slop, I’m proud to say I still do everything by hand with no “generative assistance” BS. These are all #HumanMade

I print, package, and post all of these myself from my own studio. No drop-shipping or POD companies. All me.

This piece is inspired by the fable, The Tortoise and the Hare, by Aesop.

I did it entirely in Procreate without the help of any generative AI “assistance”. It’s kind of my take on a mashup of Art Nouveau, Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, digital art, and storytelling.

I’m really happy with how this piece turned out. I especially love the rich browns and oranges of the canvas textures, as well as the teals and greens. I think this color palette is one that I’m comfortable with, and I seem to fall into using it quite a bit.

It’s available as a greeting card here:

The Frog Prince.

This is one of my very favorite pieces. I love it so much that I started to sell it as my very very first print ever. It was because of this image that I took the plunge and started offering limited edition, numbered and signed prints of some of my pieces.

I think this one looks great in a large scale and nicely framed, and because I print it at home on my high-end printer, and don’t offer a myriad of different sizes and ratios, I know exactly what it looks like. I can control it. And this piece looks AWEsome in a Tabloid size/11x17” scale. So much glorious detail!

I’ve been told that it’s very “old school” to offer prints in only one size. Well, so be it. I print them on my own printer, and sign & number them so, yeah, I guess that’s the old-fashioned way of doing things. I’ll only ever print 30 of these, so I’m okay with that.

But it’s also available as a greeting card here: https://goimagine.com/the-frog-prince-11x17-limited-edition-print/

And as part of a Fairy Tale variety pack here: https://goimagine.com/art-nouveau-fairytale-variety-pack-greeting-cards-2-5x7-with-envelopes/

I made this using Procreate. I don’t use generative image “assistance” at all. Here’s the speedpaint: https://makertube.net/w/tJQWn6b8gtHF8D3hphAK7W

Today, I’m sharing a new card on my shop: a Bluethroat. These birds are found in Europe all the way across the Palearctic to Alaska.

I had an older version included in literally *the* first pack of bird greeting cards I’d ever made, but this new update is now available as an individual card.

goimagine.com/bluethroat-singl

BUT—here’s a new feature—I finally set up my art shop to enable folks to select six cards and get one of those cards free. So essentially, you can design your own packs of single cards (from the 130 in my shop) and pay less.

Now I know—“Six greeting cards for $30?! That’s cray cray! I can get them so much cheaper somewhere else!” Yep. You can.

But these are painted, printed, packed, and posted by me (the artist) personally. These are Human-Made cards with Human-Made art, done by an independent artist keenly interested in helping people make connections with each other.

For me, this is more than sales or profit margins or giant corporations riding trends and hokey celebrity meme cards. I could do the lowest common denominator and make more money with stolen generated image schlock.

This is not that.

And these cards are not for folks who can’t tell or don’t care about the difference.

Where the art comes from that you share with others matters.

I am so STOKED!!!

I finally --Finally!-- learned how to make a promotion in my art storefront that takes the subtotal of six individual greeting card selections and makes a blanket discount of the price of an individual card from that subtotal.

Essentially, Select Six & Get One of them Free.

And it does it automatically—no code, no coupon, nothing to remember.

I am SO happy! I’ve been trying to figure this out for a very long time, and my brain couldn’t wrap itself around it. I’m really really happy I can finally make this happen!!

I have a new greeting card available on my storefront. It’s a White-Browed Rosefinch, found in Asia.

I have officially put my very first art print up for sale on my Goimagine Art shop.

goimagine.com/the-frog-prince-

I’m sticking with a 11x17” size and that’s it, because my work looks a lot better when it’s bigger. Turns out a lot more of the detailed texture and subtle coloring shifts are visible when things aren’t microscopic! Ha!

I decided my prints will all be limited editions of 30, signed & numbered on the back, and include a certificate of authenticity. Plus they'll be printed by me, personally, in my own studio, full-bleed at 400dpi on my fancy-schmancy 8-color printer. So I can quality check!

I had made some of my birds available on my Etsy shop a very long time ago through their Printful integration, but I could never really be sure they were bright enough and clear enough… I had no idea what my customer was getting. And so having prints drop-shipped through someone else has always worried me.

In the end, it’s simply another way of making my artwork available and special for the collector. I’m not really doing traditional art yet, so this is the next best thing for me to offer.

Ultimately, I’m just really happy with how they’re looking so far, and truly proud to finally offer them!

I call this piece “Tradition”.

It’s a comment on the power of peer pressure from dead people.

I like some traditions, but the ones that inflict judgement or the ones that self-justify themselves because “this is the way it has always been” can be quite dangerous and unhealthy to some. Tradition can be wielded like a cudgel to deny things simply out of spite and hate or fear or convenience.

Tradition can regulate behavior in ways that are illogical and demeaning. It can pre-determine choices and restrict freedoms.

It can be a tool to generate fear.

There are far too many bad traditions, and I am a firm believer in the power of change. That people can be better humans and turn away from harmful traditions when they want or need to. The human capacity to make their own choices is valuable, and implies we have agency. That we can rise above our circumstance.

This piece is another in my series of "Red Cloaks" images. I think the filigree ended up looking like a metal die-cut instead of a built-up bead, but I still think it's effective none-the-less as something unique and interesting.

This piece is inspired by the fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood.

It can be purchased as a single greeting card here: https://goimagine.com/rose-path-single-illustrated-greeting-card-5x7-with-envelope/

It can also be purchased as part of a six-card variety pack of similar images here: https://goimagine.com/art-nouveau-red-cloak-variety-pack-of-greeting-cards-5x7-with-envelopes/

And, of course, here's the speedpaint where you can see how it all happened: https://makertube.net/w/o2soSxJ4bxbEeMnVkwQACe

This style of "Art Nouveau" (or whatever it is) really feels satisfying to me to work in. I've done a lot of images now in this mode, practicing it and refining it to make it more of my own. This image is an older image and one of the last that I'll be sharing here on Pixelfed before I launch into sharing my more recent pieces that each represent a specific story or tale.

After a year and a half of putting it off, I finally—FINALLY—got my one of my very favorite bird images made into a greeting card.

I don’t know why I waited so long. I mean, I feel like it’s one of the best images I’ve ever done, so I’m puzzled with myself for not getting it done sooner.

I made this image on Oct 15, 2023. And I’ve consistently turned back to it as one of my portfolio pieces that I sometimes pin to my profiles on various platforms. Was I scared for some reason? Hm. I dunno.

So I finally just did it. Here’s the listing:

goimagine.com/illustrated-rufo

I will be putting up some more birds and making specific “regional” packs very soon. That’s on my list of things to do this week. So it’ll be available as part of a Variety Pack later on—I’ll let you know.

But if you’re interested in buying it individually, it’s now available. Whew!

I have an Art Nouveau version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears for sale as a greeting card on my Goimagine shop.

goimagine.com/goldilocks-and-t

It’s also part of a set of similar cards here:

goimagine.com/art-nouveau-fair

This image is one that really helped me start to shift away from “replicating” my inspirations toward feeling confident in my own skills. I took a leap to include illustrative elements that weren’t part of the work of my idols. It was an important step for me.

It was done entirely in Procreate, without any generative nonsense.

My stylized Art Nouveau painting inspired by“Jack and the Beanstalk” is finally available as a greeting card in my shop on Goimagine!

goimagine.com/jack-and-the-bea

I print them in my own studio on my own 8-color printer, then crease, package, and ship them to you directly. There’s no intermediary drop-shipping manufacturer involved. I do it all myself, and create each card as its ordered.

This piece is a richly textured abstracted illustration that I’m really proud of. I did it in Procreate without the assistance of any image generation ridiculousness. The piece took 9 hours to complete with 4714 strokes of my Apple Pencil. The front cover wraps around the spine to the back, and the interior is blank.

You can watch the speedpaint vid here: makertube.net/w/s3Ve1NSHDA5KYu

The third in my series of Fairytale-inspired pieces is Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

This new greeting card is available in my shop on Goimagine, and is done in an Art Nouveau style with rich textures and jewel tone colors.

goimagine.com/goldilocks-and-t

I use Procreate to make my art one stroke at a time, not artificial image generators. I print each card myself in my own studio on my own printer, package it up and ship it to you. These cards are not drop-shipped manufactured. Each one is printed, creased, and carefully handled by me.

I’m finally getting my illustrated Art Nouveau fairytale greeting card images listed on my Goimagine storefront! Whew!

Here’s the first of them: Sleeping Beauty

goimagine.com/sleeping-beauty-

I’m really proud of these cards. The process of making them is one that I truly relish and enjoy. I’m very happy to start getting these listed at last!
