"With the assistance of big corporate donors, Democrats out-fundraised their opponent by huge margins. After Biden’s victory four years ago, they also had a readymade template for how to defeat him — preaching ambitious social policies and activist government — but bafflingly opted to pursue a rerun of Clinton’s disastrous strategy instead."

Luke Savage: novaramedia.com/2024/11/08/dem

Novara Media · Democrats Have Only Themselves to BlameKamala Harris supporters are already blaming a stupid electorate and an inclement economy for their historic defeat, writes Luke Savage. Maybe it had something to do with cosying up to war criminals and billionaires?

Realizing that I did the #introduction informally, so let's try again:

I'm a nonbinary #transmedia storyteller, musician, writer, web designer and PhD researcher.

My passion project is the #ARG - #elit - #InteractiveFiction crossover work Under the Surface, which utilizes what appears to be a musician's webpage to tell a story through a variety of media. It includes opportunities to dig deeper and exhume additional layers of content both by snooping around and by solving puzzles and explores #mentalhealth themes in a sensitive manner. You'll find it at axel-lunden.com

I also curate queer-immersives.info, which catalogues #unfiction, alternate reality games, #VisualNovels and electronic literature by queer creators.

My PhD research is on mental health and tech policy and I'm an American based in Oslo, Norway. I may occasionally post in a Scandinavian language. You are forewarned.

I really love to meet other transmedia creators as well as writers, #gamedev and #NarrativeDesign folk here!

www.axel-lunden.comWho in the Hell is Axel Lundén?Axel Lundén is a Swedish/American indie folk artist. Apart from his solo career, he is perhaps best known for his tenure with the indie rock band Nauru from 1999-2009.

Not so long ago Wren Rainer Dalton of Univerity of Wisconsin at Madison's Serious Play collective wrote this excellent blog on my project Under the Surface and uses it to explain how limiting the use of the term #liminality has become in populat culture by expanding on it in their analysis here:
tinyurl.com/92h59xh7

Also, if you're wondering how a project can be an #ARG (alternate reality game), #elit, #unfiction and #interactivefiction all at the same time, this gives a fairly good explanation of why all 4 genres are a good fit.

Anyway, I love Wren's synopsis, give it a look if you're at all curious about what I'm up to!

The UWM Digital Cultures CollaboratoryLudic Reviews : Under the SurfaceThere’s this brilliant alternate reality game (ARG) on the scene that’s drawing on the traditions of e-literature and narratively inclined Indie games called Under the Surface.

#Introduction: I'm a #Poet, #Professor, #Translator, and #NewMedia #Artist. I work in #Experimental #Poetics, #DigitalLiterature (#eLit), #Erasure, #Collage, and #Hybrid works that blend the textual with the digital (including #PoetryFilm, #VideoGames, #GlitchArt, and #AIArt).

My most recent book, SCARLET, is a collection of digital-visual #poems created through #erasure of the novel The Scarlet Plague, by Jack London, collaged with glitched imagery from everyday life during the pandemic.

I've now learned I should do an #introduction so:

I'm Alex Saum-Pascual. I am an associate professor at UC Berkeley, where I teach #digitalliterature (or #elit) and #contemporary #Spanish #literature and #Iberianstudies. I am mostly in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Berkeley Center for New Media #bcnm.

I am also a digital #poet, and my work engages #environmental and #feminist questions (surprise, so does my recent scholarship!).

And.... I am also from Spain, so I write in both English, Spanish and, most often, Spanglish.
