A terrifying story about the dangers of climate change and nuclear power.

"Humanity has constructed a doomsday Deadman switch that threatens civilization. Climate destruction will make it increasingly difficult to avoid the looming global nuclear catastrophe we've created.
Here's how our future might unravel:"

Even if you aren't in a country where elections will be held very soon (Canada, Australia, Singapore, Philippines) it's worth knowing just about 9 out of 10 people globally want more climate action.
This is drowned out by propaganda from the fossil fuel industry and their paid shills.

Elon Musk’s xAI is running 35 methane gas burning turbines (enough for a small city) while only having a permit for 15 to power the Colossus supercomputer with over 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs in Tennessee. The Southern Environmental Law Center contends the generators are "illegal," yet they can keep running, reports The Guardian.

I've been reading "Full Spectrum Resistance", and it's extremely good. Lots of vital history of struggle that people should know. Very practical.

I'll post some snippets from the first few chapters below.

We have your rain! About a third of Australia’s 2nd largest state, Queensland, is under water: “outback Queensland hit by record-breaking rainfall and flooding”. Eight river systems are at major flood levels…

South Korea is facing one of the worst forest fires in its history around Uiseong county. 27 people have been killed and 32 injured so far.
There has also been significant damage to cultural heritage. The fires have already destroyed the Gounsa temple, which was built in 618 AD and was one of the largest temples in the province.

The Trump admin talking about an energy emergency is a LIE. There are at least 1,000 permits that have been issued to the fossil fuel industry over the last 20 yrs that the industry is still not utilizing and NONE of them requires using already protected federal lands.

The only reason to do this is strip away more federal land and give it to oligarchs and corporations. To enrich the 1%.

A massive storm has hit the Argentinian port city of Bahia Blanca. Nearly a year's rain fell flooding streets and even the hospital.

13 are dead, as well as 2 girls- reportedly aged 4 & 1 who are missing after possibly being swept away by floodwaters.

For environment official Andrea Dufourg, the extreme weather event "is a clear example of climate change."

"‘A new phase’: why climate activists are turning to sabotage instead of protest"

“We vow to wage a campaign of sabotage targeting the tools, property and machinery of those most responsible for global warming, escalating until they accept our demands for an end to all support for fossil fuel expansion.”
He said new laws further criminalising disruptive protests had made traditional, accountable methods of activism increasingly unsustainable, and a clandestine approach increasingly attractive. He pointed to the case of activists from JSO who received sentences of four and five years – reduced on Friday after an appeal – for organising road blocks on the M25.

“If you want to do anything that is disruptive, the penalty is pretty massive now, and so these draconian laws mean it is hard to get very much pressure … by following the kind of things that [Extinction Rebellion] and JSO have done in the past, because people will be arrested and put away for a long time,” he said.

“You can’t just keep doing that … The actual number of people who are committed to risk jail time to do this are pretty small in number.”

"EROEI (Energy Return on Energy Invested) is possibly the most important ratio to modern human existence. This measure is foundational to our civilization, yet understood by few.
EROEI is why we're able to support 8 billion humans, why atmospheric CO2 is 425ppm and also why human civilization will eventually collapse."

"Rolling back on climate actions may spell rise in preventable illness – study
Net zero policies would result in fewer deaths saving UK billions, say researchers"

Mind you so would rolling back disease prevention measures and that doesn't seem to be stopping the US 😒

The Guardian · Rolling back on climate actions may spell rise in preventable illness – studyBy Gary Fuller

"Already in 2023, air pollution related to powering U.S. data centers led to 360 premature deaths and total health costs of $5.6 billion across the nation, the researchers estimated. But those figures factored in just the average power-plant pollutant emissions."
