@jameshowell @tfb @jbqueru @gumnos @mms Yeah, reminds me of the famous story how some guy "fixed" the #C128 #CPM implementation in the #hotel just before #CES presentation for some broken hardware requiring writing a register *twice* to work as intended ... using a stupid DISK EDITOR (and calculating the stupid sector checksums manually). Source: Bil Herd's emails telling all the C128 dev story ... 🙈

Ok, it's kind of awesome to have THAT kind of skillz, but also kind of weird 😆

Has the obsession with huge, in-car screens gotten out of hand? “Designing vehicles — that are slated for imminent release — with NASA control room-levels of interactive displays seems counterintuitive,” Leon Poultey writes after witnessing the auto industry’s not-so-distant future offerings at CES. Okay #CES #CommunityEntertainmentSystem

Let's start with what and why and then get in to how and talk about plans.

What?

It's a box that plays #CommunityMedia (which you can learn about at communitymedia.network among other places.)

Basically, I want some independent radio streams and television networks and whatever is happening on peertube.

Independent, community media.

But also, let the thing play some video games, yeah?

Games are media, and small games and community centered games are very good, and I want people to be able to play the games I make in the same place where they watch the television I produce, and listen to the music I distribute.

And I'm not alone in making these things, and putting together a common distribution mechanism for them would be helpful.
