Anyone else ever have problems with Apple's iCloud Private Relay feature?

Normally, it's fine, and I kind of love it because the only way I can tell it's working is that the banner ads I see are targeted towards other locales. Whenever it's off, I see ads that are obviously for my home town and surrounding regions. When it’s on, I might get ads for a car dealership in Colorado.

But sometimes it grinds to a halt. Yesterday I was getting 0.25 Mbps until I turned it off.

And I want a pony!

Chicago Avenue-Taxpayer Stadium in the news.

'The Legislature created the electronic games to pay for the $350 million state share of the stadium. They were so successful the state debt was repaid 23 years early and lawmakers decided to put future proceeds into the general fund.

'That move frustrated Sen. Jeremy Miller, R-Winona, who’s also a sponsor of the bill, because he says lawmakers initially intended for some e-pulltab revenue to be used for stadium upkeep.

'“This is an asset of the state of Minnesota and it is our responsibility to maintain the stadium,” Miller said.'

Mr. Orange and his #tariffs have had a huge effect on stock markets and so on my "voluntary #pension #savings". He is a living and walking chaos. I have invested for 20 years and the #loss has been -7 % in one week. They should grow, not go down. 🫣🙄🥺 I've been told that I'm still young and things will change. I don't invest by myself. My bank does that on behalf of me. In #finland we have this kind of service. #annoying #suomimastodon #politics #usa #lifemustgoon

I bought a product, there was only a small note in the box with a QR code and explanations on what to do with the code.

The code took me to their Youtube-channel, where I had to dig through all their videos to find this specific product and then watch two ads before getting to the video.

The video was so light on content that most of it was just ego jerking about how good it was that I bought their product, the actual instructions would've fit the stupid card with the QR code.

It’s already two weeks late but, sure, I’ll wait until Monday

I was supposed to have administered the fortnightly medication that stops my Ankylosing Spondilitus from progressing two weeks ago. Somehow, the change over to the generic version led to a holdup that didn’t clear until I had complained and left a lot of voicemails with the hospital.

The consultant was quite certain the company had been trying to reach me. I rarely go out and live by the phone on my computer. I’m telling you they have not tried all that hard.

Regardless, I got a delivery date out of them, which was today. The curiour arrived and wanted a pin. I had no email, no letter, and no text. So he had to leave without giving me my medication.

I waited on hold and finally spoke to someone. They had added an extra letter to my email address, tried texting my landline, and generally had no idea what they were doing (IMHO). The medication will have expired by the time they get it back. I have to call Monday to raise a new order. That’s three to five more days of things slowly getting worse permanently.

I will be complaining.

Be annoying? I'm already an expert at that!

Declassified #CIAGuide to Sabotaging #Fascism Is Suddenly Viral

The World War II-era "#SimpleSabotage Field Manual" is full of steps that office workers can take to resist leadership.

by Jason Koebler Jason Koebler, Jan 29, 2025 at 3:52 PM

"A declassified World War II-era government guide to 'simple sabotage' is currently one of the most popular open source books on the internet. The book, called 'Simple Sabotage Field Manual,' was declassified in 2008 by the CIA and 'describes ways to train normal people to be purposefully #annoying telephone operators, dysfunctional train conductors, befuddling middle managers, blundering factory workers, unruly movie theater patrons, and so on. In other words, teaching people to do their jobs badly.'

"Over the last week, the guide has surged to become the 5th-most-accessed book on #ProjectGutenberg, an open source repository of free and public domain ebooks. It is also the fifth most popular ebook on the site over the last 30 days, having been accessed nearly 60,000 times over the last month (just behind Romeo and Juliet).

"'#Sabotage varies from highly technical coup de main acts that require detailed planning and the use of specially-trained operatives, to innumerable simple acts which the ordinary individual #CitizenSaboteur can perform,' the guide begins. 'Simple sabotage does not require specially prepared tools or equipment; it is executed by an ordinary citizen who may or may not act individually and without the necessity for active connection with an organized group; and it is carried out in such a way as to involve a minimum danger of injury, detection, and reprisal.'"

If I give you a big ol’ integer and say “I think this might be a combination of nCr something… but I don’t remember n or r— or maybe it’s just some integer.

How do you efficiently test to see if it’s a possible result from that formula?

I mean I could make a list up to the needed digits and search, but that isn’t very elegant. Other ideas?

1. 42503 (easy)
2. 7413705167549733 (harder)
