#ViolentCrime in the #US dropped in 2023, according to #FBI statistics that show a continued trend downward.
Overall violent #crime declined an estimated 3% in 2023 from the year before. #Murder & non-negligent #manslaughter dropped nearly 12%.
Violent crime has become a focal point in the 2024 presidential race, w/ #Trump recently claiming that crime is “through the roof” under President Joe #Biden's admin. Even w/the 2020 pandemic surge, violent crime is down dramatically from the 1990s.

I got an email from my Governor, Gavin Newsom*, this past week, & in it, he made this claim:
"Seven of the top ten states with the highest murder rates in the country are 'red' states."
I dug into that, checking a number of resources, & turns out, it's true. Not a bit surprising, but good to know--& one of the messages Dem political candidates should be screaming from the rooftops in their campaigns. #RedStates #ViolentCrime #Murder worldpopulationreview.com/stat
