Tom Cox: "I was invited onto BBC Radio 4's You And Yours today to talk about Unbound, who owe me and their other authors around £650,000 in total, which is not even taking into account the readers they have refused to refund."

I certainly hope that people don't confuse #Unbound, the mismanaged former publisher that screwed over their authors, with the totally unrelated #Unbound, the fantastic DNS resolver software from @nlnetlabs
In the unlikely event there's any #authors from #Unbound here (that haven't already seen this) then Alex is collating correspondence for lawyers...

For those authors involved in the Unbounded/Boundless garbage, Alex de Campi is working right now with a UK lawyer investigating options, and is looking for correspondence between affected writers and the publisher regarding it. Details below and please do share.

Thank goodness for the comments. It took me just a little too long to realize that it was the publisher, not the DNS software.
The problem with the unethical behaviour of #Boundless #Unbound is that nobody else will ever publish their books through them. Nobody like me will buy their existing books.
I have recently had notice of the last book I bought through them (several years ago!), although I have not actually received it yet, and I will not buy any more.
That’s a far cry from the tens of thousands of pounds authors who published them have lost. But it means that the other side of the #Unbound / #Boundless machine is just as rotten. Books are selling. Authors aren’t getting paid AND customers aren’t receiving what they bought.
@alicemcalicepants
I supported 4 books with a total of £89 through #Unbound over the past six years. I’ve only received one of them.
Laura Kate Dale says there are rumours that Unbound was expecting a big investment and decided to pre-spend it by dipping into author royalties.
Chuck, author of Bird Brain, didn’t even get the email telling them they weren’t getting paid.
Brian Bilston, poet, is owed an unspecified amount.
Daniel Hardcastle, author of The Paradox Paradox, is owed £40k.
Tom Cox, author of many books, published seven through Unbound. He’s owed more than £20k.
Small Robots, who I think published a picture book of their art work, is owed an unspecified amount.
Russell Jones, who wrote The Decade in Tory: An Inventory of Idiocy from the Coalition to COVID, is owed 7k.
Alex de Campi, who wrote The Scottish Boy, is owed $8k.
Laura Kate Dale, who wrote Gender Euphoria, is owed £8k.
