My Fave Pilot Episode has to be ‘Beyond the Farthese Star’ from Star Trek The Animated Series.
It was the first Star Trek pilot after the end of TOS. I was a young teen nostalgic for my childhood favourite scifi show, intrigued and enthusiastic that it was back. While the Filmation animation had limits, the gorgeous mattes and the truly alien aliens, promised that this animated Trek would be expanding our horizons.
I’ve watched every new series pilot since then, and always find them great, but ‘Beyond the Farthest Star’ delivered immediately on the promise of strange new worlds and the continuation of the franchise.
