Designed by the renowned architect Marcel Breuer, this Benedictine abbey stands as a striking example of mid-century modern design, blending geometric boldness with sacred tradition. One of the most awe-inspiring features of the abbey is its massive stained glass window, an intricate composition of color and light that dominates the façade. The honeycomb-like pattern of glass panels floods the interior with a radiant glow, transforming the worship space into an ever-changing canvas of spiritual reflection. Each pane is carefully arranged to evoke themes of faith, community, and divine presence, embodying the Benedictine values that define Saint John's University.
