On the road again, which sadly meant leaving behind the Rolls-Royce Spectre I've been testing for the past few days. I don't want to spoil the upcoming review, which you'll find on The Verge in time, but suffice to say this is perhaps the greatest EV on the market. It's easily among the greatest EVs of all time.

The only problem? It costs more than my house is worth. #ev #rollsroyce

#RollsRoyce is to give every employee shares worth about £700 in the company following a revival.
In a move first reported by the #FinancialTimes, the engineering giant announced in an internal memo that it would gift 150 shares to its 42,000 #workers worldwide.
The news comes after #Derby-based company, which makes jet engines, announced profits of £1.1bn in the first six months of the year - up from £673m last year.

Take that, Highland Park: A Honda girl cruises the old stomping grounds in a Rolls-Royce

I test-drove the ultimate luxury vehicle around the high-class neighborhood where I never really belonged. Let’s hope I don’t crash.

It might make sense in the short-term but #RollsRoyce's decision to sell of their #electric air engines division to focus on enhancing the profitability of their jet engine business is nuts!

If we had an industrial policy focussed on the #greetranstion, we might hope they would have been encouraged to do exactly the opposite.

If flying is to continue in a #climatecrisis, then e-air engines must be how it will be power (surely?).

More British short-termism in the face of long-term challenges

Interestingly, given discussion yesterday of the problems with #management in the UK (see posts on the 'accidental managers' & my piece for @NWBylines - reposted yesterday)...

#RollsRoyce's new CEO is making major cuts in its non-#engineering #workforce ('white-collar jobs), which would seem to imply there is a recognition that it is a bloated management structure that has been causing the firm problems.

With cuts of around 6% of staff there's going to be a few bullies looking for new victims
