I was fortunate enough to secure some locally sourced 100% raw pollen to try and help my impacted bee colony. We sprinkled some on the frame tops tonight, and I'm going to make my own pollen patty this weekend. I'm going all out trying to save my queen, nurse bees and brood. I'm pretty sure most of my foragers were collateral damage in a mosquito killing campaign by the city.

On happier news, I've booked a hotel, my daughter and I are heading to Gatlinburg, TN.

Sorry so late.
Busy talking to people all day.
Seems the world is happy we’re now World Bee Sanctuary rather than The Bee Sanctuary of Ireland.
Thanks folks.

Bumblebees may avoid foraging for #pollen when #flowers are wet/damp with rainwater or from morning dew which would make grooming pollen into their pollen baskets more difficult.

Now these are some serious pollen baskets!

Couldn’t bring you your bee facts over the weekend sorry folks.
I owe you two!
Put them on my account - I’m good for it!
Promise.

#corbiculae rock!

= bee pollen baskets/sacs.

These bee ‘saddle bags’ are smooth indents surrounded by stiff hairs on the tibia of the hind legs of some #female bees.

Used to carry collected #pollen back to the nest.

My body aches all over this morning. Yesterday was the day to bring all of the #plants outside from their winter slumber in the basement grow room. Exhausting work but I’m sure the plants were relieved to get their first taste of real daylight and a light rain this morning. On top of that I mowed, trimmed trees, weeded and cleaned the pond filter which is a daily chore during the spring. Today’s only chore is to clean the #catio of its coat of #pollen so I can relax outside for the duration.
