It seems like a great time to be a Red-browed Finch. Now the rain has passed seeds are showing up all over the place and water is plentiful.

Have a good #Wrensday everyone!
Fairywren families are delightful chaos
Here a family of Superb Fairywrens allopreen in a sunlit spot on a fallen tree trunk in the undergrowth. Dad was out of shot nearby on a higher branch
Happy #WrensDay !

An Apostlebird foraging on the ground finds some breakfast on a cold and breezy start to the day at Goondiwindi Botanic Gardens
This guy swooped me from the tree outside my place as I headed out for a walk yesterday. He then perched in the tree ahead watching me, including as I walked around the base of the tree taking a few photos. Cheeky.
Throwing caution to the wind, this Topknot Pigeon decided it wasn't hanging about for a portrait
Often it's just the stick in the photo in these circumstances. A beautifully lit sunny stick, where a bird may well have been previously. One of those lens-sensitive birds. Trust me
Happy #Wrensday to all who celebrate
Here's a Yellow-throated Scrubwren spotted hunting among boulders wet from low clouds & a misty nuisance rain on the mountain last weekend
D'Aguilar National Park, Mt Glorious
It's #Wrensday and I realise with bad weather and new years I've missed a few, so here's a twofer.
Two male fairywrens, a Red-backed Fairywren hunting small insects in a tree, and a Superb Fairywren trying to hide from the heat inside a leafy bush
Both seen last weekend at Archerfield Wetlands
Even on this somewhat shaded perch a Sacred Kingfisher confirms it was hot out yesterday

Wow only 4 more #WrensDay until the year is done. Have a good one everyone!
Here's a Large-billed Scrubwren. These little guys chase each other around the dark of the rainforest mostly, rather than hanging in more camera-friendly sunlit spots as Fairy-wrens tend to. So very pleased to catch this one on an overcast day up the mountain

A Lewin's Honeyeater showing there's no dainty way to eat a dragonfly

The early bird sometimes catches a caterpillar, evidently
Happy #WrensDay everyone
Here's a Red-backed Fairywren male showing off just how good and fearless a hunter he is
Tree decorations up early
The ever-festive Red-Browed Finch is a strong candidate for a living tree ornament
I expected to see some Eastern Yellow Robins today, and these curious little guys never fail to deliver
