"Regulatory capture" (also called agency capture) is a form of corruption of authority that occurs when a political entity, policymaker, or regulator is co-opted to serve the commercial, ideological, or political interests of a minor constituency, such as a particular geographic area, industry, profession, or ideological group.

When regulatory capture occurs, a special interest is prioritized over the general interests of the public, leading to a net loss for society.

A Commonwealth vision to build Canada’s future winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/ WFP by Michael Sigurdson <Opinion> - This is an interesting read. I've heard of the idea before, forming at trade block of #UK and 3 primary commonwealth countries #australia #newzealand and #Canada - This we all have a shared heritage due to our root country the #UnitedKingdom - there is strong merit in this idea and it should be pursued. #cdnpoli #ukpolitics #auspol #nzpol #Canadadefence

"Some of Nelson's most experienced senior doctors say a lack of staff in their departments has led to waitlists blowing out, sometimes putting patients' lives in danger."

BUT National have a target to reduce wait lists, and also they said NO front line services would be affected by cost cuts.

Say it with me: Tax cuts cost YOU

Suppressing submissions on the Treaty Principles Bill does not only insult people who invested significant time in putting together their contributions, it also hides the names and number of those who submitted boilerplate Hobson's Choice etc. templates. I'd like to know who they were too

I went to a #repairCafe today and got my ebike charger fixed for at least another 4 years of daily usage (I hope). 🚲 ⚡

Repairing things is good for the earth, for our pockets and for society in general.
The NZ Parliament is looking at a bill about this. 🔧

Please make a submission so repairing becomes the standard and we keep things out of the landfill for as long as possible.

Deadline is April 3rd.

The Minister for Not Giving a Fuck Shane Jones is still ignoring the law. He met with three SI mayors and it's not recorded in his ministerial diary. Dunedin Hospital was discussed. Jones claimed "it was a meeting with NZ First members" but ODT calls that a lie.

Oddly, the ODT appears to have pulled this story as I'm writing. "You are not authorised to access this page."

Legal threats, anyone?
