There seems to be a lot of confusion around whether Joe Gebbia, one of the three founders of #AirBNB, is still influential at the company, since he’s recently joined #DOGE to help Elon fuck up the federal workforce.
Well, not only does Gebbia own an estimated 7.3% of AirBNB (45 million shares worth about $6.5B), which makes him the third-largest individual shareholder in the company (after the other two founders), he (along with the other two founders) are on the company’s board of directors.
So YES, I think Gebbia’s word matters at AirBNB. I suspect he still steers company decisions to a good extent. You don’t have a board with of the three largest shareholders and not listen to what they say.
I think it’s entirely appropriate that a company should lose its good name when it’s associated with or led by someone disreputable.
