J’aimerais que toutes les grandes ONG médicales et humanitaires (MSF, Médecins du monde, Action contre la faim, CCFD, etc.) et les grandes institutions mondiales (OMS, Unicef, Croix-Rouge, etc. – je ne connais pas si bien le statut de chacune) lancent un appel solennel conjoint aux pays de l’OCDE et aux instances supranationales comme l’UE, pour compenser ce que les US font perdre à l’humanitaire mondial par leur désengagement.

Ça demande du courage, parce que des prises de position dans ce sens des chancelleries comme des acteurs de l’humanitaire vont déplaire à Trump, mais il est indispensable de réagir fortement.

Je n’en peux plus d’entendre « le démantèlement de l’USAID et la réduction à la portion congrue de ce qui restera sont catastrophiques » en même temps que « coupes claires dans les budgets de l’aide au développement dans l’UE, pour financer l’effort de défense » Et l’humanitaire ? No comment, mais on est désolés.

C’est insupportable !

"According to a memo circulating among State Department staff and reviewed by WIRED, the Trump administration plans to rename the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as US International Humanitarian Assistance (IHA), and to bring it directly under the secretary of state. The document, on which Politico first reported, states that as part of its reorganization, the agency will “leverage blockchain technology” as part of its procurement process.

“All distributions would also be secured and traced via blockchain technology to radically increase security, transparency, and traceability,” the memo reads. “This approach would encourage innovation and efficiency among implementing partners and allow for more flexible and responsive programming focused on tangible impact rather than simply completing activities and inputs.”

The memo does not make clear what specifically this means—if it would encompass doing cash transfers in some kind of cryptocurrency or stablecoin, for example, or simply mean using a blockchain ledger to track aid disbursement."

#IsraelTerroristState has blown up #Gaza’s only specialised cancer treatment hospital, as well as an adjacent medical school, drawing condemnation for again targeting a medical facility, which is banned under international humanitarian law.

Friday’s explosion flattened central Gaza’s Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, which had already been severely damaged by Israeli air strikes since October 2023.

The third floor of the hospital was previously hit in an Israeli air strike on October 30, 2023.

Fuel shortages forced the hospital to shut down on November 1, 2023, with the #UN warning the lives of 70 patients were at risk. It later emerged that four patients died at the hospital due to a lack of medical care.

During the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, 600 to 700 trucks of relief supplies drove into the Gaza Strip every day. 600,000 children could be vaccinated against tuberculosis, hundreds of thousands of tents were delivered. This has not been allowed for three weeks. (…)
