As someone who (almost) doesn't drink, not for any religious or health reasons, but simply because I fell out of the habit, it means I still have various half-consumed bottles of booze at home.

Anyway I have put a haggis on to cook but didn't realise how long the little beastie takes. Which means I've started on this golden syrup already. God knows what state I'll be in when it comes to mashing those neeps and tatties!

Actually as a commercial mass market haggis they are not bad - and being veggies, their vegetarian option is always welcome when we have not had the time/arse to make one for parties. Home made ones will be deployed on Burns night however!

On this day in 1890, this monster haggis was shot near the village of Dalwhinnie. Local schoolchildren were forced to eat haggis for their school dinners for the next 10 months!
