Double Dexys! Among our recent #music book arrivals, we have two relating to 80s stars Dexys Midnight Runners, while the groovy 70s are represented with a history of great music from 1975, & Woody's Bay City Rollers recollections.

I've always loved this video (to the extent of once searching around GglRth for the odd camera angles :-) )

Listening to this whilst working. I was so upset with Too Rye Aye I just never entertained this album. It’s not terrible, but also not convincing me yet. I’ll play it through….

#NowPlaying: 'Too-Rye-Ay' by Dexys Midnight Runners (1982 - 'As it should have sounded' 2022 Remaster).
A great blend of soul, pop, New Wave and folk. Owned this at release but lost it in the intervening 40 years. I can now appreciate what a great album this is.

On this day in 1986, Jackie Wilson was at #1 in the U.K. with his 1957 song ‘Reet Petite’. This unlikely success occurred two years after his death when it was used in a Levis commercial.
“Jackie Wilson said it was Reet Petite
Kind of Love You got

It reached number one in the United States and was their second number one hit in the UK, following 1980's "#Geno". The song was produced by #CliveLanger and #AlanWinstanley and was initially claimed to be written by #KevinRowland.

Probably better known for “Come on Eileen”, Dexy’s Midnight Runners first album remains a favourite in our house. “Searching for the young soul rebels”. Searching for a new soul vision. #nowPlaying #music #dexysmidnightrunners
Pick 1 album and discuss.
If you don’t recognize any of these, listen to at least 2 first. I will add music links in the comments.
