Cobblers, i said to RD, & kept on retrying, but it insisted. Same story. Bloody RD, i moaned, & launched <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/AnyDesk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#AnyDesk</a> in spite. Wut, same story? Are you both ganging up on me? Rang dad, asked if by any chance he's just had a blackout. Erm, yes, sheepish reply came... he tripped a circuit breaker by having too many kitchen appliances on at once. Droppie [infosec] 🐨:archlinux: :kde: :firefox_nightly: :thunderbird: :vegan:The latest...Am gonna remote-into dad's win10 pooter Mon arvo, & create two VMs in it: <ol><li> a <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fedora</a> <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#KDE</a> <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Linux</a> one, to test his printer & scanner compatibility</li><li> a win11 one 😮, so we can both begin to get a first-hand feel for what it's like </li></ol>If Test1 fails, i will have to finally accept that dad's never gonna become another <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Penguinista" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Penguinista</a>, coz ongoing use of his printer & scanner is absolutely non-negotiable; he uses these HEAPS of the time every week, & whilst i don't care about printing & scanning at all, to dad these are absolute showstopper issues. I feel a sense of gathering gloom... 😨 The corollary ofc is that if Test1 fails, the only remaining option is to proceed with accepting win10's persistent nagging finally, & do the upgrade to win11, with all the horrors that entails. 😱 I feel dirty already, sigh. <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/DadsPooterProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DadsPooterProject</a>

Droppie [infosec] 🐨:archlinux: :kde: :firefox_nightly: :thunderbird: :vegan:Me be trying, hoping, wishing, to persuade dad to let me finally convert his win10 pc to Linux [+ a permanently offline win10 VM for his proprietary pgms that ofc do not run in Linux, & for which he won't or can't let me convert him to FOSS equivalents], instead of doing the feared upgrade to win11, sometime in the coming months. 🤞 🤞 🤞 I've not had time yet to read all these, but so many of the links here seem to portray win11 as total tripe & hideous horror... which IMO would be some achievement given i loathed win10 from the start, so if 11 is actually even worse than 10, then...
