#ElSalvador's in the news a lot right now because the Trump administration shipped a few hundred people off to that country's incredibly dangerous new mega prison, #CECOT.

What seems to have gone unnoticed in all the reporting, however, is Salvadoran dictator #NayibBukele's outsized role in the world of cryptocurrency and through that his direct connections to the Trump administration via Commerce Secretary #HowardLutnick and #Tether.

CNN only cited one man who was deported & imprisoned that likely isn't a gang member, but there's evidence that there're at least 15 men⬆️ who aren't members of the Tren de Aragua gang.

Realized I had forgotten my favorite #Bukele / #Tether factoid when I published my piece on #ElSalvador yesterday, so I added a short bit about the time Tether claimed to have launched a bitcoin mining operation in El Salvador and as proof posted obviously photoshopped images of shipping containers with the Tether logo on them.

Foreign journalists who attempted to actually see the mining rigs were forcibly removed from the area having never seen an actual computer.

You'd think a country America whose mega prisons Trump is now sending venezuelans (and soon other groups) to die in without due process would at least have a better photoshop team.

#Bukele posted a video on Sun of what he says is 238 members of Tren de Aragua arriving in #ElSalvador. He said they would be transferred to CECOT, the Terrorism Confinement Center in the country, for 1 year.

#MarcoRubio, #Trump’s secy of #State, last month said Bukele had agreed to accept deportees from the US of ANY NATIONALITY [including US #citizens]. Bukele's social media posts on Sun refer to "a very low fee" that the #US paid to El Salvador for the #deportations.

"Thanks to the great work of the Department of State, these heinous monsters were extracted & removed to El Salvador where they will no longer be able to pose any threat to the American People," #Trump WH press secy Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

"Ooopsie… too late," El Salvador's Pres Nayib #Bukele posted, in response to the judicial order.
