Federal judges who have ruled against the #Trump administration this year are confronting a wave of threats, potentially compromising their personal safety and the independence of the #judiciary.

The sister of #SupremeCourt Justice #AmyConeyBarrett received a #BombThreat earlier this month, and lower court judges who hit pause on some of President Trump's efforts to dismantle federal agencies and programs have been singled out on #SocialMedia.

Trump’s attacks also come amid growing concerns about the #safety of federal #judges. Reuters found that #threats against fed judges have more than doubled since late 2020, when #Trump significantly increased his *criticism* of the #judiciary.

In Jan, #Engoron received a #BombThreat to his #LongIsland home, right before closing arguments for Trump’s #civil #fraud case were set to begin.

The #Connecticut state #Capitol bldg was closed & #evacuated in response to an emailed #BombThreat.

"The email, which appeared to have been sent to numerous states, claimed to have planted multiple #explosives at the Capitol. Upon receiving this info, SCPD closed & evacuated the Capitol. State Capitol Police…, along w/ explosive K9 ‘Bocci’, searched the Capitol bldg & grounds.
