Here in Ontario over the last 15 years I've seen a huge change in how apples are grown. There used to be individual trees in an orchard; now there are apple "vines", branches grown along wires strung in parallel rows like grape vines. And there is a large mechanical harvester that runs between rows instead of people on ladders in trees.
