If there’s one thing I’ve relearned after being back in the US after a month in Europe is that Europeans work to live, and Americans live to work. In retrospect, I guess maybe that’s why I was so attracted to being a Deadhead after living as a teen in France. I think Phish folk are like that too. We’ve worked to “tour” so that we can really live.

@Kealoha321 I’ve always felt the same thing about New Orleans and it’s one of the reasons it’s my favorite city in the US. Just a completely approach to life and what’s important.

@Nolasox could not agree more! Discovering Nola in my youth made it one of my fav places. We go about once every year and a half or so to dig the vibe and stuff ourselves!

@Kealoha321 My family is heading down for our annual trip on the 26th. The great music, food, and weather is so restorative!

@Kealoha321 This is generally my approach to life but it got more complicated when I had kids. Also what I both love and hate about , my favorite city in the world.

@Rosey yep. Kids add a new dimension and challenge. But, they also provide an opportunity for us to “walk our talk” like nothing else we’ll ever do. I’ve tried really hard to show mine that life is hard work but that the goal is happiness, not some financial measure. (Although $ is a necessary evil unfortunately)

During your month in Europe, what was the feel you got from Europeans about this disastrous election and the coming years of dealing w/the incoming regime? I assume they all think we are psychotic idiots (because so many of us are)?

@2dogphish It felt a little like an apology tour to us but was interesting. We had talks about it with locals in Nederlands, France, and Italy. The French were the most scared but understood as they’ve got a right nationalist faction with LePen who almost won there. The Italians (young students from university of Bologna) had the most surprising attitude. They thought him necessary to make Europe more independent. They were very far left kids (which there is popular communist party)
