I used to have stronger opinions about political messaging/campaigning but I have realized over the years that I have absolutely no idea what is effective, absolutely no idea how swing voters think, absolutely no idea what candidates have the most appeal, etc. And if you look into what research there is on the topic, the evidence base for any of the above is meager. I have instincts about it but they are likely wrong, so I am trying to bring some humility to my woulda coulda shoulda analysis.
@mielcarz All I know is the American people largely suck more than I thought. And I feel pretty confident on that assessment.
@mielcarz I was in the trenches all Tuesday, tired, evacuated, bomb threats, wearing a suit for 20+ hours. I spent most of the day in the elections office of small county run by rural Rs. It was eye opening. All of those people are good people. They want mostly what we want, except they don’t want babies killed after birth, their kids turned trans, boys competing against their girls, lower taxes and $8 eggs. My take away: Social media will be the death of us all. And Dems suck at messaging.
