I currently pay for Soundcloud, but Qobuz has been highly recommended - it pays the most to artists - qobuz.com/

I use last.fm/user/tigerweet to log what I listen to, and it then generates suggestions for new music, that I usually also look up and buy mp3s on bandcamp.com/ or from the artist's website.

QobuzQobuz - Unlimited high quality streaming (United States)More than 100 million tracks available for unlimited streaming in high sound quality. Qobuz is also the worldwide leader in 24-Bit Hi-Res downloads.

Definitely canceling #Qobuz. While I love that they pay artists more and I like the audio quality, I find it much less enjoyable to use than #YouTubeMusic.

I open Qobuz and I see music that other people like, that they want me to like.

I open YouTube Music and I see music I like, and music similar to music I like. Personalized new releases, playlists, and radio stations. For me it's much more enjoyable. It's familiar yet there's always something new and different, but relevant. It's not limiting my music discovery but making it more efficient.

So I'll continue to stream music on YTM and buy merch and digital releases from my favorite artists. I'll check back in with Qobuz from time to time to see if the personalization has improved.

I previously posted about discovering new music and it seems like the majority of fedi-folks discover via streaming platforms.

I would like to give Spotify a try since they have a rather large user base, but I'm not keen on using their app and having to deal with endless ads. Unlike band camp they lock everything up like LinkedIn.

The thing I'm interested in is their playlist, and/or algorithmic recommendations - I wonder if there is any easier way than looking up Spotify playlist and searching the songs one by one.

Any idea?
