一応 The Browser Company の名誉のために、実際の記事と文も引用しておくと

という部分が、#Arc のユーザーに対して梯子を外す言い回しだな〜と自分が感じたところで、常用はせずともインストールはしていて好意的に見ていた自分としても残念だなと感じた部分でした。

#Arc が出たとき、自分は掛け値なしに「#Vivaldi の先を行っている！」と感じた部分があったし、自分もそんなに常用はしてなかったけどインストールはしてたし、開発終了が発表される直前までは #Vivaldi とある種の理想を共有する部分があると思ってた。…んだけどな〜

Arc を作ったはずの The Browser Company の Arc への評価が、やっぱり自分は一番残念に感じたのかもな…
どこかで自分はまだ「Arc 、良いブラウザーじゃん！」って思ってるところがあるのかも…それだけに惜しいという気持ちが強い :tony_sigh:

#Vivaldi :vivaldi_red: を 10 年以上使っていると、何年ごしで解決されるバグとか数年前からいまも解決されていない小さなバグとかを見つけることは珍しいことではないんだけど、それでも :vivaldi_red: を使い続ける理由は、Vivaldi 社が :vivaldi_red: を改善しつづけてくれるだろうという信頼感を自分が持ってるからで、その信頼ってある意味いまのプロダクトの機能以上に大事なもののような気がした。

そういう観点で #TheBrowserCompany の CEO の以下の言葉を読むと

これって、内容だけをみれば「まあそういう部分もたしかにあるよね」とは思うけど、 #Arc のユーザーの立場で読むと「それは Arc を作るときからわかっていたのでは？」って感じるし、#Arc の開発をストップする理由としては、なんというか腑に落ちづらい言葉なんじゃないかな…と思った。
まあ、無料でブラウザーを提供し続けるってなかなかできることではないだろうし、 #TheBrowserCompany のビジネスとしての判断もあるのかなーと邪推する部分もあるけど、いまのところは Dia に対する期待よりも Arc の喪失感のほうが大きそう。

なるほど、 #ArcBrowser の開発元の #TheBrowserCompany は Dia という新しい AI ブラウザーの開発をやりたい（というかやっている）、そして #ArcBrowser は売却もしくはオープンソース化が検討されていると。

ただ、その Dia の開発にも使われている技術の一部は #Arc のコードにも含まれていて、それが #Arc のオープンソース化などの障壁になっていて、どうしたもんかなーみたいな状態、ということなのかな。
