The first post launch release of #threadsapp is out! I'll see what I can find!
At the very least, can we stop calling it “Instagram Threads?”
The only reason
the ONLY reason
Facebook attached that name to it is because it’s their only product that somehow still has a shred of positive public sentiment left. Yes, there’s a functional aspect to getting the app off the ground but that isn’t relevant to why they *named* it this way.
It’s a #Facebook app. It’s from Facebook. Facebook built it.
#Instagram #ThreadsApp
Meta's Threads app hit 100 million users within five days, becoming the fastest-growing app in history.

As Mark Zuckerberg no doubt celebrates his new success, Elon Musk shows signs of buyer's remorse after reports state he is attempting to sue the law firm that forced him to buy Twitter.

If #threadsapp gets 100M active users (right now only 90M subscribed not necessarely active) and Mastodon 2M active users (we're very close to that), it would mean that if everyone actively interact with some Threads account, then 1 in 50 replies will be from a mastodon/fediverse user.
It won't take long. In just a few days or weeks basically everyone on Threads will have met a mastodon user "in the wild". They might click on your "mastodon.tld" little badge and learn about the fediverse. (This badge already exists and reads "threads.net" for local users, clicking on it gives you info aboutthe fedi and name-drop both mastodon and ActivityPub) They might Google mastodon and decide to join an instance federated with #meta
If just 1% of Threads users make the switch, that's a 50% growth for us. And 1M users saved from the data mining empire of Meta. You might think federation with meta is still bad. But it's like vaping instead of smoking kind of bad. So "saved" is definitely the right word.
Threads not having a following (or at least interests) feed is just a bad time. Social platforms get ruined for me when I have to stop seeing what I care about in lieu of garbage “everyone” content, and Threads just opens that way. When “everyone” shows up to party, I’m out. Becomes lame fast.
Jim and Diane are looking for a social media site. Jim wants gifs and memes, while Diane wants a sophisticated academic feel. Join us as we find the right one for them on Social Media Hunters International!
#threads #threadsapp from #meta on it's way to gain 100 million users, just from 3 day of its public launch
the most successful #activitypub implementations out there and that's including #mastodon
when will it join #fediverse?
I think I’ll sign on to #threadsapp - not because I particularly want to but to piss off #ElonMusk
Apparently #ThreadsApp is even worse: there’s ONLY an algorithm feed and to delete your account you also have to delete your Instagram. Lol

A CNN correspondent just asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if President Biden would be on Threads. (Zuckerberg’s social media app.)
Ms. Jean-Pierre had no comment. #Threads

I'm currently digging through the code of the #Android #Threadsapp. I can't quite put the finger on why, but the whole thing feels like a rush job. There's several megabytes of test data in there that should not have made it into production and the binary looks mostly like they just dumped the entire #Facebook / #Instagram codebase into #Threads, regardless of what was needed and what is not.
Move fast and don't break things, right?
It’s just a sticker, but it explains pretty much why the Threads app has record-breaking adoption rates.
