Happy Photography Friday friends.

I have (largely) recovered from tonsillitis, still tired and achey in my joints, but no longer contagious (though still wearing a mask in public).

I'm about to photograph the opening of the Q Lit festival tonight and for the next 7 days it's going to get hectic!

If you haven't bought tix yet to this rainbow festival of words in Naarm, then get in quick as many events are sold out already. This is amazing news - we need to support grassroots LGBTQIASB+ organisations and events or else fear losing our culture. This festival is for everyone who loves words and tix are free if you cannot afford to pay. If you cannot attend but would like to help, there are pay-it-forward options.

In the meantime, here's an image of a very calm dam lake I took last week whilst on camp. Hope it helps you find a moment of Zen in this turbulent world.

Not exactly photography this week, rather something I'm creating. A whole series intended to put the viewer in the centre of the landscape I've photographed by using mirror pieces.

The ingenue will appear at the Counihan Gallery, Brunswick, Naarm on Saturday 9th August. Put a pin in the date as I'd love to see you there.

Happy Photography Friday friends, my recent Out Doors Inc adventure went, amongst other places, to Mooroolduc quarry. I like that it has been turned into a nature haven, & the local kids must like it too, given the graffiti.

I am in Tyabb hiking along the coast for a few days 😍. This is part of an adult camp through Out Doors Inc. If you're in Naarm and on the NDIS, I highly recommend them. (I am a participant & in no other way affiliated with them)

Wednesdays done well.

Photography adventure with my support worker. We drove out to La Gerche in Creswick, Victoria. What an utterly charming walk with plenty of sign posts about the trees nearby and La Gerche's vision for the area (or lack thereof, but he had passion).

Got paid to photograph a gallery showcase this evening. It was an 8wk summer residency program for people with disabilities and three years ago I was in the program, so this was a lovely full circle moment.

If you're in Naarm the showcase runs for a month!

Happy Photography Friday friends.

A month ago I was hired to photograph a transcendental dance movement organised by the brilliant dancer and choreographer Tony Yap, "Trance Zones" at Temperance Hall (Naarm).

Here's two images that are suitable for work (just).

As always, as an independent artist I'm available for hire.

I almost forgot about Photography Friday friends!

My latest photography client was a massive LGBTQIASBplus festival and I had the privilege of shooting my dear friend Mama Alto. The pressure is doubled whenever I shoot friends, especially when I haven't seen their new act before. But I'm really happy with the results.

For those who don't know, Mama Alto is a jazz & blues singer who has won multiple awards for her performances across Australia and the world (including a recent win in NY) and happens to be proudly trans & loves a cup of tea.

Now that the ink is dry on my new Service Agreement I can now announce that I have been hired to curate the Maker Space exhibition. The contract covers work to be undertaken for Arts Access Victoria’s Future Reset – Maker Space Program from June 2024 to December 2024.

Maker Space is a series of online and in person visual and digital arts workshops designed to help 18-25 year old youths (at my age I'm calling them youths!) learn new skills and give them resources to create new works and new friends with the opportunity to showcase new works at the end of October (which is my job to curate!).

Arts Access Victoria (AAV), currently celebrating 50yrs, is the peak body for arts and disability in Victoria (in so-called Australia).

It is thrilling to work for a disability-led organisation that plays a vital role in state, national and international discourse, platforming the work of Deaf and Disabled artists, arts workers and creatives.

As many of you may know, my multimedia series, "The Reclamation of Terra" was largely created in the Arts Access studios - an AAV studio in Merri-Bek I've been practising my own craft at for 18+ months.

I am so grateful to CJ and the stellar team for asking me to come on this journey. As a proud queer, trans, disabled human I can't wait to champion young voices emerging in the art world.

Happy Photography Friday friends.

Last month I had the honour of photographing the Mapping Peace Festival here in Merri-Bek, Naarm. So many phenomenal performance artists and dancers (such as Wojak, and Yumi Umiumare) curated by the outstanding Tony Yap.

These three images were taken from the last event of the festival - the open floor invitation - where all artists, and those who had been training under Tony over the month, could take to the floor and feel the music. Transcendental chaos ensued and my heart danced with joy.

These artists took time to chat with me between performances throughout the weekend I was there and encouraged me to live my dreams. Despite my physical and mental setbacks, I live a blessed life getting to capture such special moments from rapturous humans, and am so grateful for this opportunity.

Just a reminder - I can be hired. I have sliding scale rates, depending on your budget, so get in touch and let's see if I can help you capture magic. My website, (which is being reconstructed for further accessibility), is on my profile page.

The end of Pride (June) marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

To mark the occasion, Archer has released my essay "Protest alongside Pride: A call to action" onto the world.

I hope y'all like it and it drives you to action - especially the allies amongst you. I'm a very proud Daddy.

Please share widely. 👐🏼
