While a young adult driving down a highway, my father happened across a wreck. Other motorists had stopped too, but nobody knew what to do with the injured motorist, so they stood around and watched him bleed to death.
That story has haunted me, and prompted me to get trained to call 911 and render aid, hopefully enough so an ambulance team can arrive and take over. I want never to feel so helpless that I have to watch someone die.
