Sun glitter on the dark blue water. Taken while swimming in the main pool at the ocean baths looking northwards to the Bar Beach headland. The white spray of the breaking waves at nearby Merewether Beach is visible above the rim of the pool.

Looking over the northern concourse of the ocean baths and out to sea. The white rounded pump-house marks the north east corner on the far left with the red and yellow surf life saving flag flying closer to the viewer. A few swimmers in the pool, some getting in or out. A few in winter clothes standing or walking nearby. White waves breaking along the back wall. Lots of blues - sky and water.

Rounded white pump house building on the northern (left) side of the pool on a sunny winter's day. Sky is pale near the horizon, gradually intensifying to mid blue. There's a thin wisp of cloud above the pump house. The water in the baths is a deeper blue with choppy white reflections of the pump house.

Swam for half an hour. Lovely in the water after the first few moments. Windy and cold out on deck though. So less pics today because i was reluctant to get my arms out of the water. #beach #ocean #coast #MerewetherBaths #NewcastleNSW

Looking over the wide main pool entry ramp towards the brick Merewether Ocean Baths building. The water over the entry ramp is a tad less clear than normal but not as murky as i expected.

Looking along the northern concourse of the baths to the rounded white pump house and the ocean. The red and yellow lifesaving flag is up and fully stretched out by the southerly wind. Grey clouds fill the sky to the ocean horizon. The water looks greyer to match.

Looking southwards along the back wall of the baths. The white of the wall and nearby floor makes the a lovely wide pale turquoise line in the water before giving way to a deeper green. Sky is full of white clouds with only a few small patches of blue.

Looking down the wide cement pathway towards the two large pools at the baths and out to the ocean horizon. Small figures cluster around the edges of the pools. However, the big sky draws the eye, with the beautiful blue partly covered in fluffy white clouds.

Merewether Baths still closed to swimming because of the sea hares. But looks like they were pretty much all cleaned up this morning. I arrived in time to see one of the wet-suited sciency folks toss one back into the sea, singing out, "you're freeeeee!" While half having a giggle. Of course, i missed getting the moment on camera. Very cool though. #MerewetherBaths #NewcastleNSW #ocean
