Here's a trick for mastodon: Open the full view of a post and then click the Audio file attached or just to view any replies. This stops mastodon from going to the top of your feed, so you don't lose your position #MastodonTips

if you ever *don't* want your post 10 comments down in a silly thread to go global, you can turn that off with the quiet public option
everyone can still see your post, but they have to dive into the thread it's in to find it, they won't see it pop up in their feed

If you want to search for a reply you made to somebody you can't just search for part of their name/handle. You need to include the @ and the full handle (but you don't need the server part). The handle in the following example is weird by design to make sure I'm not tagging an account that actually exists:
